Enjoy the ride.
Before you read this I want you to know that this was written completely THC free. That is all.
Now carry on!
As I mentioned in an earlier post, nyc has to be one of the most intimidating cities to try and make it into. You’ve got fresh graduates coming out of every ivy league school competing for the same job, which can be a tad discouraging. We're living in the most unique decade, with technology growing at lightning speed and the fact that a college degree might as well suffice as a high school diploma. There is a lot of pressure on our generation. We live in a completely different world than our parents did growing up, which makes it difficult for them to relate to our struggles. So all in all, what I'm trying to say is we're all screwed and doomed for failure.
So sayonara and have a good life!!!!
No I’m kidding.
Really what I’m trying to say is that we all need to (pardon my French) CHILL THE FUCK OUT!
When I first moved here, my good friend introduced me to “Spirit Junkie” founder Gabrielle Bernstein’s books and podcasts, which completely put a switch on my way of thinking in the best way possible. So I'm basically just gonna plagiarize her words of wisdom for the rest of this post. Hope you enjoy!
What I’ve learned from this spirit guru is to get the hell out of the way of my own life. It’s so easy to have this perfect idea in your head of how you want your life to be. Whether it be what job you want to have, how much money you want to make, which romantic partner you want to be with, or how many pounds you want to lose. But by thinking this way, you are only blocking out the incredible things that are happening in your life RIGHT NOW!!!
Your twenties are scary! Trust me, I know. We are all trying to figure out what our some sort of “purpose” is on this earth, yet none of us actually know what the hell we’re doing. That is why I have actively started to practice trusting the universe. By doing this, I have been able to let go of negative, unnecessary stress and focus my energy on specific goals and feelings that I want to manifest. Trusting that if one opportunity doesn’t work out, that’s okay, that doesn’t change who I am or what I can offer. Believing there is an opportunity out there, even greater than I ever could have imagined, has enabled me to stay positive and in a healthy mindset. It is very empowering knowing that with or without that job, or that partner, or those abs, I can still be happy.
Obviously people are thinking “Well… what about the job?”
“What about my amazing body?”
“Where is my Prince Charming or Cinderella?”
It all comes!!...Once you stop stressing about it and let the universe do its thing.
And honestly, I can vouch from personal experience that the less I obsess over how I want things to turn out, the more likely I am to attract opportunities.
Now don’t get me wrong, It's not like I've magically transformed into some perma zen Buddhist monk who is ready to pack up and move to Bali. I’m just saying I’m throwing out this blueprint I’ve made for myself. Perfect is a ridiculous standard and if anyone is aiming for that … have fun! One of the most exciting parts of life is the not knowing what’s next. So for now, I’m just going to trust that the universe has got my back and hop on for the ride.
